Kelly: Behind The Turmoil

Kelly Clarkson has fired her manager and all hell has broken loose!

News that her summer tour is not selling well and that her single - Never Again - is underperforming at radio is adding even more negative press to her upcoming album, My December, out in two weeks.

Upset with how things were going, the American Idol alum fired The Firm’s Jeff Kwatinez on Monday night as her manager.

Bickering between SonyBMG and Clarkson about the songwriting and direction of My December likely played a role with their parting, reports Entertainment Weekly.

”He exacerbated a thermonuclear situation,” says one source close to the situation. ”Jeff did everything he could to control Kelly and her career suffered. He should have steered her in the right direction. Tour markets were misread and all the fighting with the label has taken attention away from the one thing that matters: her music.”

However, another source adds, “‘It’s not too late. The label was supportive of Kelly in terms of putting the song out, but this album can’t flop. She needs to get the right advice and counsel.”

For their part, Kelly’s former manager’s hold no harsh feelings.

The Firm just released this statement to People:

Kelly Clarkson is an enormously talented artist. We are pleased to have served as her managers during her well-deserved rise to stardom and are proud of the role we played in backing her creative choices.

“We believed in Kelly from the day we met her and believe in her now. We have only the best wishes and hopes for her in the future.”

Kelly is a quarterback without a captain.

We hope she doesn’t lose this game!

More On Kelly’s Crisis

This speaks for itself.

From Hits Daily Double:

“CLARKSON-KWATINETZ SPLIT: Amid a swirling media controversy and the imminent release of her third RCA album, My December, Kelly Clarkson has split with The Firm’s Jeff Kwatinetz as her manager. Clarkson made a point of telling interviewers she’s either written or co-written the material on the new album, but the first single, “Never Again,” met with a lackluster radio reception, while ticket sales for her upcoming tour are reportedly lagging as well. With relations increasingly tense between Clarkson and her label, someone had to take the fall, and it turned out to be Kwatinetz. Insiders say they warned the manager not to put himself in the middle of that kind of high-profile showdown, as he did with Clarkson and previously, Linkin Park. Clarkson’s last album, 2004’s Breakaway, sold 6 million copies in the U.S. and 10 million worldwide. The new album will come out as scheduled June 26. Now, who will Clarkson turn to for management? Action to come, my friends.”

From the great city of Manchester, say hello to The Ting Tings.

Like a British White Stripes but with a female on the vocals, this duo is indie, garage, low-fi…and irresistibly delightful!

Their song That’s Not My Name is one of those deceptively simple songs that become deliciously infectious.

Name-checking everyone she’s not, lead singer Katie is damn fierce.

We are a sucker for hand claps! You will love the song.
