Sad news out of London tonight:

Robert Knox, a British teenage actor playing a minor role in the upcoming Harry Potter movie, was stabbed to death during a brawl.

The 18-year old was fatally wounded after he was involved in a fight outside a bar in southwest London early Saturday, London’s Metropolitan Police said in a statement. Word leaking out is that he was defending his younger brother.

In the upcoming Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, set for a November release, Knox plays Ravenclaw student Marcus Belby.

Reportedly, he was one of five young men taken to various hospitals following the brawl, police said. Among them was a 21-year-old who has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.

We caught the happy couple stopping by a nail salon the other night for a his ‘n’ hers pedicure. Tori, as always, was a trooper - but as you can see from the pix above, Dean’s feet couldn’t take quite as much pampering as his wife’s!

Charlie Kaufman may have saddled his latest movie with a mouthful of a title - specifically Synecdoche, New York - but judging by all the stars who turned up to see it at Cannes yesterday, it looks like it’s well worth learning how to pronounce!

Last night, our French correspondents caught Tom Noonan, Spike Jonze, Catherine Keener, Michelle Williams, Samantha Morton (who came as Kaufman’s date), and Philip Seymour Hoffman arriving at the Palais des Festivals for Synecdoche’s big screening. Needless to say, we’re seriously pumped for this one - even if we end up sheepishly asking for “two tickets to that ‘S’ movie”!
