The Dave Matthews Band’s saxophonist LeRoi Moore has passed away.

He was 46 years young.

The musician was injured in an ATV accident in June, resulting in a punctured lung and broken ribs.

Moore went back into the hospital last month due to complications. He passed away Tuesday in Los Angeles after more complications.

Sad news out of the music world today:

LeRoi Moore, the saxophone player for the Dave Matthews Band, passed away earlier today. He was 46.

Moore was severely injured in an ATV accident June 30 outside Charlottesville, Virginia. He suffered a punctured lung and broken ribss at the time. The musician was rushed back to the hospital last month due to complications.

A representative for the Dave Matthews Band released the following statement following Moore’s death:

“LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia.

Moore had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.”
