He had a great voice, a great (albeit tragic) personal story and a great run on American Idol.

But Danny Gokey did not have what it takes to make the finals, as the singer was eliminated last week after solid, but unspectacular, renditions on Monday’s performance show.

Ryan Seacrest caused our hearts to stop for a few moments last night, as he initially announced that Kris Allen had made it through to next week’s finale.

That left Danny and Adam Lambert in the bottom two, as a nation feared that the latter might actually not take his rightful place among the show’s winner.

In the end, though, Ryan announced that over 88 million people voted, Lambert was safe and Danny was going home.

“This whole experience feels like a dream come true.  American Idol has given me a whole new hope for my life,” said Gokey during a video montage of his journey, reflecting on how far he’s come since his wife passed away last July. “It’s almost like a fairy tale story.  You read about tragedies, and then you read about the triumph that comes through it - and I’m that person.”

Coming out of her sister’s shadow at last, Ashley Olsen strips down to a bra and bares her midriff in racy photos for the Summer 2009 issue of V Man magazine.

Olsen also dons a brown wig for the photo shoot, done to promote the launch of The Row’s menswear line this fall. She designed the brand with sis Mary-Kate.

What attracts Ashley Olsen to a man? Or at least men’s fashion?

“To touch a man who has a soft sweater on, a soft pant, a great jacket, or something that, as a woman, I want to take off and put on and feel sexy in,” she says.

Ashley says she is content focusing on fashion designing these days, but her sister, “still wants to focus on acting,” she says. As for whether they’re still close?

“I see her like 10 times a day.”

There’s a new celebrity war raging. Well, a celebrity news war.

Us Weekly has launched an offensive against InTouch Weekly, using two full pages of their new issue to rip their rivals’ bogus Brangelina gossip over the years.

Us reproduced 21 InTouch covers dating back to 2005, then shreds the fake stories one by one, killing its celebrity gossip counterpart over their articles.

Some of which are pretty great. At least three wedding reports and five accounts of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie splitting up, with some inventive Jennifer Aniston stories tossed in for good measure, made it into the collage of lies.

InTouch fired back: “We are flattered that our competition pays so much attention to InTouch that they were willing to devote a 2-page spread to us.”

Mmm. They’ve got a point there, but come on, look at these headlines. After you’ve blatantly lied 17 times, doesn’t the 18th fail to carry the same weight?

All we know is somewhere, Star Magazine is celebrating for not being called out.

In Powder Blue, Jessica Biel plays a stripper and showcases moves typically reserved for a one-time *NSync member and current Mother’s Day tribute provider.

The movie centers around blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah four strangers in L.A. blah blah blah blah blah Jessica Biel topless blah blah blah blah blah.

It’s kind of an artsy movie, but also a little dark and disturbing as blah blah blah blah seedy club blah blah blah stripper pole blah blah blah blah blah blah.

Should be a great moment in cinematic history.

Last week, people were talking about the Cassie nude photos that hit the Internet after they were “hacked,” i.e. released by her handlers to generate attention.

Well, we’ve removed those risque pictures down after a complaint from Atlantic Records and Bad Boy Entertainment claiming “exclusive rights” to said images.

If we are to understand this correctly, Bad Boy Entertainment is therefore claiming ownership over Cassie’s breasts and baby factory. She’s totally doing Diddy!

Just making sure we’re clear on that.

Anyway, the image below is not one of the infamous pictures, but she is wearing no pants, which is pretty sweet, we suppose, if you have a thing for Cassie …
