Bethenny Frankel Introduces Daughter to the World

Let’s just get this part over with:

In an ideal world, we’d never see a photo of Bethenny Frankel’s daughter. This reality star would resist the urge to profit off her newborn, turning down offers to pose with her for national publications because that’s just exploitive and wrong.

That important point made, let’s also face it: daughter Bryn Casey Hoppy is so gosh darn cute!

Frankel shows off the tyke in the latest issue of People, telling the magazine about her 30 hours in labor, eventual c-section and how Bryn “came out like a doll. It was amazing.”

Bethenny Frankel, Daughter

Bethenny says she and husband Jason Hoppy named their child after the latter’s brother Bryan, who died in a car accident 19 years ago. When they told Jason’s parents about it, “Jason’s mom was hysterical, crying. They couldn’t believe we kept it secret.”

Frankel describes Bryn as a “good baby” and adds:

“We’re so thankful and lucky to have a healthy baby. This is the new me now.”

It just wouldn’t be Bethenny if she didn’t conclude with a note about herself, would it?

The Hills Recap: Somebody Dates Stephanie Pratt

We don’t know what’s more unfortunate, that this Max guy was set up with Stephanie Pratt, or that The Hills is coming out with Stephanie Pratt story lines now.

No disrespect to Stephanie Pratt, but … Stephanie Pratt? Last night’s The Hills, “A New Bird,” focused largely on Spencer’s sister. He was nowhere to be found.

While a reprieve from Spencer Pratt can be a nice thing, let’s be honest, if there’s anything interesting about The Hills anymore, it’s watching Speidi meltdowns.

What we’re left with in the wake of their odd, unexplained absence is a whole lot of filler. Here’s The Hollywood Gossip’s official Hills rundown, plus-minus style:

Brody tells Kristin he may go on a date with a girl. Kristin isn’t seeing anyone else. Ah, friends with benefits at its best. Someone’s always let down. Plus 15.

Audrina invites Ryan out with her friends, and after some hesitation, he agrees. Too bad we already know Audrina Patridge and Ryan Cabrera split. Minus 8.

Brody Jenner and McKaela

Brody Jenner puts the moves on new chick McKaela.

Brody’s new girl McKaela is new to L.A. and is looking for “genuine friends.” LOL. Plus 7 for the inevitable letdown that will result from taking that quest to The Hills.

Stephanie says she feels like her life is finally coming together and she’s ready for a relationship and blah blah blah. Does anyone care at all? Minus 9. Because no.

Lo sets her up on a “blind” date. As in the producers of The Hills throwing darts at a wall full of dudes’ audition photos while blindfolded? That we could buy. Plus 3.

Charlie gives Brody tips on hooking up and staying single during a golf outing. Charlie. Always so calm and wise. Plus 5 for the increased screen time for this sage.

Audrina also gives Stephanie some dating pointers. Minus 10, ’cause this is not the person you want pointers from, unless your top priority is being walked all over.

Stephanie Plot Line

Dating Rule #1: No pouting. Rule #2: Tone down the makeup.

Brody Jenner introduces McKaela to his friends and flirts with her in front of Kristin Cavallari. What a passive-aggressive move. But hey, they’re not dating, so Plus 8.

Lo helps Stephanie get ready for the big night. We keep expecting some big cat fight to liven it up a bit, but no, it really is just that boring. Minus 3, because really?

Kristin, like, can’t believe the next day that Brody did that with McKaela. Stacie reminds her they knew this wouldn’t end well. She’s like the female Charlie. Plus 4.

Stephanie quizzes Max on basic dating questions. “What’s your sign?” Really? This is what The Hills has devolved into? This is just coma-inducing stuff. Minus 27.

TOTAL: -15. SEASON: +40. Yeah. It’s looking more and more like this show can’t sustain whatever magic it once had, and needs to step it up or go away pronto.

Tiger Woods Needs Some Oxygen

By now, you probably know a bit about Tiger Woods’ home.

It’s on a private street, tire tracks across the lawn, it’s got a busted fire hydrant nearby, and may have some nice dings in the decor from 9-iron-wielding wives.

Standard stuff. But Woods’ plans for his 12-acre property nearby in Jupiter Island include some surprising details - such as a room devoted to oxygen therapy.

Through his attorney, Woods filed paperwork to begin work on a practice golf course, a series of pools and the oxygen room for his 9,000-square-foot home.

Such rooms typically feature a hyperbaric chamber, which delivers pure oxygen to the body and helps athletes heal injuries and ward off arthritis, fatigue, etc.

Tiger is currently battling a bulging disk in his neck/back.

Golf Great

GETTING SOME AIR: Tiger Woods could really use some.

Tiger Woods has said he has received oxygen treatment in a hyperbaric chamber, which may take a year to complete along with his own practice golf course.

Supposedly, Michael Jackson slept in one in hopes of looking younger, although all the plastic surgeries and chemical addictions might have run counter to it.

The report added that the paperwork offers no indication of who will live at the house, as Tiger sorts out his private life and his divorce from Elin Woods looms.

No divorce papers have been filed, but the drama is already in full swing, with swirling rumors that Elin wants 0 million and no confidentiality agreement.

Michael Ventrella Wins The Biggest Loser

Nicole Scherzinger may have won Dancing with the Stars, but no perfect score on any routine is as impressive as what Michael Ventrella accomplished this season on The Biggest Loser.

The contestant first weighed in at 526 pounds this season, eventually shedding more than any player in show history and finishing his run at 262 pounds. It was more than enough to make him champion.

“I thought there was a glitch in the matrix!” said th 31-year old from Chicago after he won the title. “I thought, ‘What is wrong with the monitor?’ I can’t believe this. I just proved no matter what it is, possibility or not, it can happen.”

Michael Ventrella

This is Michael Ventrella BEFORE… and this is Michael Ventrella AFTER. Wow.

Earlier in the night, Ventrella said:

“I knew going onto the ranch that I needed to save my life. The only way to do that was to bare all. I left everything I loved, everything I hated - I had to get over it. I dedicated myself so much. I had to reach into a place inside of me I didn’t think existed. Even to this day, I don’t feel like I’m done yet. I’m going to keep going.”

Amazing stuff. We wish Michael the best in his quest to remain happy and healthy.

The Favorite Again: Crystal Bowersox Owns Lee DeWyze in American Idol Finals

She started season nine as the favorite, she faltered near the finish line, but Crystal Bowersox came through when it mattered most last night.

Of the six total songs covered by her and Lee DeWyze, Crystal put on the top two performances. She left her comfort zone (and wore a dress!) with Alannah Myles’ “Black Velvet,” abandoning her guitar and showing off her range.

But it was Bowersox’s take on Patty Griffin’s “Up to the Mountain” that should earn her the title. She delivered it with drama and feeling, as Randy Jackson rightly referred to the audition as “amazing” and Simon said it was “by far, the best performance and the song of the night.”

Ryan and the Finalists

As for Lee? He did perfectly well. We’ve already downloaded his rendition of “The Boxer” and we’re big fans of U2’s “Beautiful Day.”

But DeWyze’s hoarse sound didn’t come across well on that single. Still, it wouldn’t shock us if viewers sided with Lee simply because his first song would be that contemporary, well-known U2 hit.

This is how we’ve ranked the six songs sung on the night:

  1. Crystal Bowersox, Up to the Mountain
  2. Crystal Bowersox, Black Velvet
  3. Lee DeWyze, The Boxer
  4. Lee DeWyze, Beautiful Day
  5. Crystal Bowersox, Me and Bobby McGee
  6. Lee DeWyze, Everybody Hurts
