At last night’s Hollywood premiere of Eclipse…

… Robert Pattinson faced off against Taylor Lautner for the title of Hottest Star.

… Kellan Lutz went up against Peter Facinelli.

… Ashley Greene and Nikki Reed engaged in a pretty-off.

… And Kristen Stewart wore an ugly dress.

But there were many other sightings on the red carpet, including Kellan Lutz’s girlfriend; Kellan Lutz’s underwear; a famous baseball player; and so many Kardashian sisters we may have lost count.

Not so fast, Mel Gibson.

Earlier today, we reported that this troubled actor filed for a restraining order against ex-girlfriend and current baby mama Oksana Grigorieva.

But TMZ has learned Grigorieva’s lawyers beat Gibson to it: the attorneys scheduled an emergency hearing in family law court on Monday, telling the judge an order of protection was needed against Gibson because he acted “extremely violent” toward their client.

If this allegation is true, it would only be shocking because Oksana isn’t Jewish.

In response to his former lover’s filing, Gibson’s order only prohibits Grigorieva from releasing certain pieces of information. Those tidbits appear related to confronations that began in January.

A source close to the actor acknowledges some sort of fight took place, but says the pair traveled together happily soon afterwards. This insider added:

“In these cases, when somebody cries wolf, the judge is mandated to assume there’s a wolf, until a full hearing can be held.”

Meanwhile, a Grigorieva source also alluded to events in early 2010 and argued his acquaintance’s side: “There were other acts after January that were not physical but still constituted domestic violence.”

Sadly, this gives new meaning to Gibson’s classic Lethal Weapon franchise.

John Edwards and his daughter Cate used to be tight.

Then, the disgraced politician became one of the worst people alive, cheating on his cancer-stricken wife, knocking up his mistress, paying an aide to take responsibility for the child. That sort of thing.

Now, in her first comments since her father’s secret life became exposed, Cate is siding - strongly - with her mother, Elizabeth. She told People:

“There are the things she taught without words, [such as] how to continue to live your life on your own terms when it somehow becomes savaged by people you never invited into it.”

(Pssst, Rielle Hunter: We think she’s talking about you.)

Elizabeth Edwards also speaks on in next week’s issue of the magazine, saying she’s hard at work on a paperback edition of her memoir, Resilience.

It will include a new chapter reflecting on the most damaging aspects of the fallout from her husband’s infidelity. Says Mrs. Edwards: “It’s my story and I’m writing it from here on out – nobody else.”

On more than one occasion, Justin Bieber has been declared dead by the Internet.

For whatever reason, this adorable young singer is often the topic of online hoaxes and cruel jokes. It’s something that apparently runs in the family. What do we mean?

Gossip blogger Zack Taylor reports that Bieber’s mother - yes, his mother! - has been offered ,000 to pose topless in Playboy. There are no sources cited and nothing else to the article… but, hey, we’re The Hollywood Gossip, not The Hollywood Fact.

It’s our job to bring you every rumor out there, no matter how ridiculous it may seem.
